Karl Connolly was born on the Wirral in 1964 and his abilities as a very talented artist were recognised at a very early age. Following careers in the Shipbuilding Industry and latterly the Armed Forces, he eventually settled in the beautiful countryside setting of Somerset where he lives and works to this day.
Although he has experimented in various mediums, Karl discovered that he was most suited to the flexibility proffered by the use of pastels, which although notoriously difficult to work with, gave him the vivid colours and flexibilitly he required in expressing his works that could not be matched by the alternatives.
An inbuilt reticence to carry out commissions to all but a few close relatives and friends has meant that until recently, Karl has remained relatively unknown. However, due to an ever increasing demand for his works worldwide he has become a very popular up and coming artist of particular note.
His talent is in capturing expression in not only people but in animals, a rare talent indeed, as many of his customers will testify and as a browse through his gallery will display.
